For the past few weeks, my daughter came home from school reciting some words & phrases that I soon learned as the 8 Nilai-nilai 1 Malaysia. Everyday, before she went to bed she’d say :

Keh taba’an (Ketabahan)
Keh setia’an (Kesetiaan)
Peh nerima’an (Penerimaan)
Pendidikan
In ter giti (Integriti)
Meh ri to ka si (Meritokrasi)
Rendah Hati
Budaya Kecil Melangan (???)

What??

What on earth is Budaya Kecil Melangan??

I kept asking her whether she’s sure the last one is Melangan and she confidently said “Yes”. and then she went on and on again.

Curious on what the word Melangan meant, I made an attempt to google it.. yes, i’m that pathetic. none of the result make sense to me. according to Mr. Google, Melangan is a proper noun, a name of some island in sarawak. i ‘ve never watched the news or read the paper so i had no idea that my daughter was actually reciting the 8 values of 1Malaysia.

Last Saturday, they had a Merdeka Day Celebration at their school and while waiting for the event to start, some slides related to Hari Kebangsaan were being displayed. It was then that I was finally enlightened, finally learned about the things that my 5-year-old daughter recited every night and finally learned that it was not Budaya Kecil Melangan; it’s Budaya Kecemerlangan!!

Doiii… apa la punya mommy… serves me right for being ignorant!

my head is already throbbing and i’m so tempted to hit the sack right away, but, i need to get this blogged right now, while the story is still fresh in my mind. right now, i’m having the same feeling i have felt when i first finished reading Twilight. owh.. i forgot to mention, i’ve just finished reading Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.

omg… i’m so damn sleepy right now my mind suddenly switches off! damnn!!!

great story… the beginning is a bit similar to twilight tho… but as the story progresses, i think i’ve found my new edward cullen *sigh* patch is my new edward… patch cipriano is my new edward cullen..

seriously!! I’m mad at whoever is in charge of the censorship thingy on Malaysian Radio!

Why do they have to spoil great songs like Lady Antabellum’s Need You Now just because of the word “whiskey” ??? there’s nothing wrong with “whiskey”!!

And I’m quite mad that one of Taylor Swift’s greatest song entitled “Change” didn’t even make it to Malaysian Radio. but then i know it’s because of the word “Hallelujah” in it and although it is only a word synonym to Thank God, i do understand that we still have to be considerate to some narrow minded people. So OK… i get that…

But can someone please tell me why does Pitbull’s Hotel Room Service made it to national radio without (if i’m not mistaken) any bleepon the obviously offensive lyrics?? I know the beat and melody sounds good, but does anyone ever paid attention to the lyrics??

it’s funny how one or two words (in a song) can be considered inappropriate, removed and thus spoiling a very good song. funny how only because of one word “Hallelujah”, Taylor Swift’s inspirational song is banned from national radio!

i couldn’t believe that 2009 has come to an end. looking back through the year, there are actually a few events, happenings and milestones that are worth remembering. how about a quick recap on 2009?

1. celebrated chinese new year, the year of the ox and was warned by my horoscope that i was going to have a tough year ahead. come to think of it, 2009 was indeed a tough year for me.

2. celebrated Ellone’s 4th birthday at her school, Taska Suausindak, Penampang.

3. on march, lost 11.2kg. weigh 74.6kg on Nov 2008 and by march 2009, weigh 63.4kg

4. son turned 4 on march 30.

5. had conjunctivitis on apr 16 and given 5 days free sick leave.

6. hubby bought me an iPhone for mother’s day.

7. celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary.

8. attended my department’s retreat cum family day on jun 12.

9. completed my final year project.

10. donated blood on june 16, found out that i lost another 4.4kg (total weight lost since nov 2009 = 15.6kg).

12. LOST THE TOYOTA PRADO SU585 ON JUNE, 24. STOLEN AT THE U*MS LIB PARKING LOT IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.

13. celebrated hubby’s 30-something birthday.

14. had a Facebook addiction for a good 3-4 months.

15. found out that daughter is reading at 4 yrs & 7 mths.

16. went for a mini getaway at Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort with hubby & the kids.

17. Went to Labuan with the Futsal Girls.

18. Ran for the BIM 10K Race.

19. Had my bachelor degree on Oct 13.

20. Brought my family to a 6D5N trip to Shenzhen-Macau-HK Disneyland.

21. BROKE MY TAILBONE DURING U*MS FUTSAL TOURNAMENT. Was to be given a 6 weeks sick leave but so stupid to decline and asked for 1 wk leave instead. buduh buduh buduh buduh buduh!

22. Hit the BIG THREE-OH

23. hubby bought me a magic ball for my birthday.

24. Went to Michael Learns To Rock concert on Dec 12.

25. registered my daughter & son to Tzu Yu Kindy & playschool.

hmm… i think that’s about it. not bad, kan? hopefully 2010 will be kind to me, bring more happiness, wisdom and prosperity to us all!

I think Twilighters can be can be categorized into two groups. One group is made of all those fans who are choosing between Team Edward and Team Jacob, while the other group is made of those who are choosing between Team Robert and Team Taylor.

I also believe that the first group (Team Edward & Team Jacob) were/will be disappointed with the movie(s) and the second group (Team Rob & Team Taylor) love/will love the movie(s).

Usually, the first group are also ppl who have read the book(s) looooong before the first movie was released and that’s why they fell in love with the character instead of the actors. I am Team Edward and [owh no, Team Rob is going to shoot me!] after two movies, I am still disappointed over RP. I thought this time around he would manage to pull it off, to become Edward enough, just like how TL became Jacob but NO, i think he looks much better in the first movie! I really feel like closing my eyes when i saw RP shirtless.. very very the EWWW!!!

I do admit that overall, New Moon is actually better than Twilight… maybe because the CGIs are better and the scenes were more natural. Castings for new characters have also been done properly, and i think that’s why all of the new characters (Volturi, Wolf pack, Jane, Felix, Demetri, Harry Clearwater, Etc) fit the description in the book perfectly.

Owh and I think Ashley Greene has also turn into the perfect Alice Cullen! The looks, the attitude and the walk are all Alice! two thumbs up for Ashley Greene

Now, come to think of it, seems like my disappointment actually has nothing to do with the movie itself, kan? i do know that it is impossible to include all the details in the book into a 2hr movie. i am actually disappointed with the casts! – except the new ones la..

Hmm… now, i’m not sure if i’m really looking forward to Eclipse, but at least i’ve learnt not to keep my hopes high..

yesterday, hubby went to “the kindy” and get the reg form. since the kindy also has a playschool [2-4 yrs old], we thought that it would be more convenient to send xavier there too so that we don’t have to go to 2 diff schools to send / pick them up.

last night, i filled in the forms (excitedly) and this afternoon, we went to submit them. i’ve never been to the school before and when we get thr, i immediately fell in love with it. the teachers are very friendly and nice. the buildings and classrooms are beautifully decorated. when the kids parents came to pick them up, the teachers will walk them to the car and even open the car door for them so i’m pretty sure my kids will be safe.

i’m really glad i chose the school and i hope my kids will love Tzu Yu Kindergarten too…

Ooh.. and btw, Ellone is registered in the same class as Jimonon, my good friend Joyce’s nephew..
